Spurring from a deep-rooted obsession, this blog is dedicated solely to the art of film production. Its contents will range from critical analysis to thoughtful musings concerning films I find an interest in writing about. The views expressed within are merely my opinion on an extremely subjective medium. In the very least, I hope my comments encourage further discourse surrounding the cultural impact of films and the questions they pose regarding the human condition.

Does anyone who is familiar with the structure of the Academy Awards believe there are flaws in this system of determining a film's worth? (ie; possible monetary incentives, popularity of performers, a consideration of circumstances that are irrelevant or barely influential upon the film's quality)

I think that big blockbusters should be given a fair chance instead of usually giving the award to a low, unheard of movie people barely knew existed until it won. I think its biased on some levels
ReplyDeleteI think the academy looks for pictures they believe are artsy and they also are very biased towards already acclaimed stars. I think they look past a lot of great films and hardly ever touch upon independent or unheard of films.
ReplyDeleteI think it falls somewhere between politics and money as i believe most matters of prestige do which is a real shame but it is most definitely just the way things are.
